How to choose between Swedish, deep tissue and hot stone massage
Understand the differences in pressure, technique and feel to find the right massage for your needs.
Choosing the right massage depends on the type of pressure and feel you want during your session. Whether you prefer light gliding strokes or firmer work on specific muscle tension, knowing what each style offers helps you decide.
Every treatment at Lantern Day Spa begins with a short consultation to discuss your goals, areas to focus on or avoid, and any health changes. This ensures your provider tailors the session to your preferences.
Swedish massage for long gliding strokes
Swedish massage uses long gliding strokes, kneading and circular movements at light to medium pressure. It suits guests looking for a traditional massage experience focused on general relaxation and easing daily tension.
Sessions are available in 60 minute and 90 minute durations. Your provider checks in throughout the appointment to ensure the pressure matches your comfort level.
Deep tissue massage for targeted muscle tension
Deep tissue massage uses slower and firmer pressure on deeper layers of muscle, specifically targeting areas like the back, neck, shoulders and hips. It suits guests who prefer more intensive work on persistent tension.
Some soreness for a day or two afterwards is common after firmer muscle work. Sessions are offered in 60 minute and 90 minute durations with continuous pressure checks from your provider.
Hot stone massage with smooth heated basalt stones
Hot stone massage incorporates smooth heated basalt stones used alongside traditional massage strokes. The warmth from the stones helps muscles relax so the provider can work effectively with less pressure.
This 90 minute treatment is offered at our Las Vegas spa and Green Valley spa. Note that hot stone treatments are not offered during pregnancy.
Your consultation and aftercare support
Every massage session includes a consultation at the start to determine your preferences for pressure and focus areas. If you want more or less pressure or additional warmth at any point, simply tell your provider.
After your treatment, you have time in the relaxation lounge with water or tea, along with personalized aftercare notes from your provider. Drinking water after a massage is a common recommendation.
